Bulgaria – a journey to the roots of culture
This program includes one of the most important points of interest in Bulgaria. The most biggest and ancient cities of Plovdiv – 6000 before Crist, Sofia – 5000 years before Crist. The old capital of Veliko Tarnovo. The most important and beautiful historical centers of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast – Nesebar/UNESCO/ and Sozopol. The monasteries of Troyan and the famous Rila monastery also in UNESCO list.
Bulgaria is one contrast between different cultures and religions, and till today conserves his traditional roots.

Day 1
SOFIA AIRPORT – PLOVDIV (150 km)
Departure to Sofia, a city dating back to the eighth century BC when Thracians established a settlement in the area. Arrival and then transfer to Plovdiv. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2
PLOVDIV – BURGAS (245 km)
Breakfast and sightseeing tour of this city, whose historic center is a veritable museum of the old bulgarian architecture and decoration styles. The old streets, wooden houses, richly colored mansions with flower gardens, craft bazaars and ruins of fortifications offer to the tourist an unforgetable cultural experience. Lunch and then continue to the Black Sea. Arrival in Burgas – city tour. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3
BURGAS- NESEBAR – SOZOPOL (170 KM)
Breakfast. Today we will visit part of the coast. Nesebar stored in its peninsula is one of the most important architectural treasures of the country, the city was declared by UNESCO in 1983 as a Heritage of the Humanity. City tour: old part of the town – Sveti Stefan Church, the Archaeological Museum, the medieval churches with paintings, as Stara Mitropolia, etc. After lunch we visit Sozopol, also based in another peninsula. The church “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” with the relics of St. Yoan the Baptist. The old Sozopol, along with its relics, was the winner in the standings “The Miracles of Bulgaria ” in 2011. The rest of the afternoon we spend in Burgas, which is the best connected city of the Black Sea, important tourist center: City Hall, Cathedral, The Bridge, … Dinner Accommodation.
Day 4
BURGAS- VELIKO TARNOVO (220 km)
Breakfast. Departure for Kazanlak, where we visit the replica of the Thracian tomb and the Ethnographic Museum. Lunch. Continue through the Valley of Roses up to Veliko Tarnovo, to visit the medieval fortress Tzarevetz: Patriarch’s Palace, Tower Baldouin, South Wall, Little Door. Veliko Tarnovo was capital of Bulgaria in the early Middle Ages. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5
VELIKO TARNOVO – TROYAN – SOFIA (255 km)
Breakfast. Departure to Troyan Monastery one of the most beautiful monuments.
It is built in the seventeenth century and is the third largest in the country. In his church “The Assumption” is the miraculous icon “The Blessed Virgin Mary Troeruchitsa”, on 15th of August is the procession. Follow the trip to Sofia. Lunch at the hotel. Rest of the day – free time. Assistance match of the Champions League. Accommodation.
Day 6
SOFIA
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour with local guide of the city. Walk through the historic center: Nedelja Square, Rotunda of St. George, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St. Nicholas Russian Church, Hagia Sophia, National Theatre, Alexander Batenberg Square with Royal Palace. Lunch and free time to visit the capital and shopping. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7
SOFIA – RILA MONASTERY – SOFIA (250 km)
Breakfast and departure to the Rila Monastery, built in the heart of the mountain. It was founded in the tenth century by the monk Ivan Rilski, known as St. John of Rila, the hagiography tells that he lived holily in the hollow of a carved tree shaped like a coffin, partially destroyed by fire in the nineteenth century and rebuilt between 1834 and 1862. We continue with an interesting visit to the museum, the church and the kitchen. Lunch and free time. Return to Sofia to visit the capital and make last shopping. Farewell dinner in a folkloric atmosphere. Overnight.
